CASE STUDY - BOLNEY WINE ESTATE

CLIENT: Freixenet Copestick Murray

BRIEF: Following the acquisition of Bolney Wine Estate by Freixenet Copestick in 2022, the new owners wanted to modernise and optimise the on-site facilities, creating a new ground floor wine shop and cafe, a first floor restaurant with terrace overlooking the vineyard, and new purpose-built rooms for the hosted wine tours for which Bolney was already well known.

STRATEGY: Ford Consultancy undertook a wide ranging review of the best English vineyards to assess the range, style and quality of hospitality offerings available. This research was coupled with knowledge and experience of the existing portfolio of European vineyards already owned by the company. We devised a scheme to incorporate all of the key requirements, maintaining a sympathetic approach to the building architecture and surrounding landscape. The scheme was fully costed, Project Managed, and delivered by Ford Consultancy using a combination of local and national service providers and trades.

RESULTS: The first phase of the development opened in July 2023 with the new cafe and wine shop, alongside two new tour rooms. The first floor restaurant will be completed in early 2024 and the business is now looking to expand further into the grounds of the estate with its events business and glamping.
